I had the worst travel experience of many years of flying all over the world recently when flying Delta Airlines to/from Quito, Ecuador and Atlanta, Georgia. Reached Quito for flight DL0680 to fly to Atlanta and after going through the long cues and customs had the flight cancelled and was rerouted to another flight going through same thing only to have that flight cancelled. Housed overnight by Delta and had a flight out the following afternoon, November 16th on flight # DL9859 finally reaching Kansas City. Lost an entire day of vacation and all the plans with family and friends planned. Also, when arriving at 10:45pm in Atlanta heading for KC with flights changed were given a voucher for a local hotel overnight……after a bus ride and train ride arrived at the Convention Center Hotel only to be told all of Delta block of rooms were filled. Now I am a 78 year old lady dragging a large suitcase through all these lines (in Quito for five hours standing, waiting) along with my carry on luggage……so back to the terminal to face several long lines to the Delta desk at midnight along with another lady rejected from any available rooms. She opted to go through the long line and wait while I opted to spend over 10 miserable hours at the airport hanging out unable to sleep. The lady who opted for another voucher returned shortly and found me to advise the place she was sent to for a room was a “pit” and said “I would not stay there” so she too spent over 10 hours awaiting our next Delta flight out. Now, I want to know what kind of compensation I can receive from Delta for this massive physical distress caused to my aged body as well as lost vacation time. I am planning a one-way trip out of Guayaquil, Ecuador to Kansas City the 31st of January and will be moving back so will have 5 pieces of luggage with me and will require airline assist as will also be transporting my 50 lb dog with me. How can you assist me for my most miserable prior travel experience????? It was truly a physical/emotional nightmare for me, sorry to report. Thanks for your patience reading this. I was on delta flight (DL-420) to Accra Ghana. and was delayed and then canceled and delayed again the following day. the agent gave me this address to get in touch with delta to make things right. my name is Gus T.
